How I would make a cheat sheet (and how I did,
in part)
1)Go through every chapter and write down key
points in the shaded boxes
2)Re-read the key points and decide which ones
were absolutely necessary to include (hi-lite them), and which ones I thought I
knew well enough not to include.
3)Organize my notes by topic (NOT chapter). One never knows if different concepts in
different chapters will be on the same question—more likely grouped by topic
4)Have all info on a particular topic in one
place, including formula, definition as necessary, when to use and any hints to
myself that will help in deciding whether to use this topic
5)Go through old exams and HW’s to figure out
where I went wrong/topics I particularly struggle with, then put hints on paper
to prevent same mistakes
6)Include example problems for ones I
particularly have trouble with
7)First take old exams with only my page of
notes, add things that might be missing, then take practice final exam and
again add what might be missing.
8)Find as many sample problems as I can, doing
them only with my cheat sheet until I feel comfortable I am ready OR I run out
of time
9)On exam day, bring these notes with formula
card for back-up
