Qualitative Methods in Educational Research (2006-2007)

Grading

We expect all assignments to be completed in a timely fashion. All written work will be held to high standards and should conform to rules of proper grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling. Assignments will be weighted according to this scheme.

Autumn Quarter:

  1. Initial Description of Project Idea - 5% (Credit/No Credit)
  2. Identification of Model Paper - 5% (Credit/No Credit)
  3. Methodological Sketch - 10% (Credit/No Credit)
  4. Human Subjects Proposal - 10% (Credit/No Credit)
  5. Research Proposal - 50% of total course grade (Graded)
  6. Class Participation - 10% (Credit/No Credit)
  7. E-Post Assignment and Participation - 10% (Credit/No Credit)

[Note: Percentages for each assignment/participation credit will be deducted from the final Autumn Quarter grade (after the final project is graded) only if necessary. Bottom line: the assignments are intended to build on each other and are therefore required. Class and study group participation is an expectation for all students taking this course.]

Spring Quarter:

  1. Research Proposal (from Fall Quarter) - 30%
  2. Method/Analysis Writing - Credit/No Credit
  3. Final Research Report - 45%
  4. Oral Presentation - 15%
  5. Participation and Collegial Support - 10%
