Children's Design Workshop (October 2007) |
Children from the Denise Louie Education Center who use the park on a regular basis participated in a workshop and expressed what they wanted for the park. One child mentioned the smell of flowers! |
Intergenerational Design Workshop (October 2007) |
WILD youths and adults from the WILD ESL class participated in a workshop to envision the future of the park through a "buffet-style" design game. |
Photovoice Interviews (October 2007) |
UW students and WILD youths conducted photovoice interviews to find out more about the everyday life of elders living in the neighborhood. One elder mentioned the daily exercise by walking around the neighborhood. |
Community Open House (December 5, 2007) |
Preliminary designs produced by WILD and UW students were unveiled at a communtiy open house on Friday, December 7, 2007, 3:30 to 5:00 pm, at ID/Chinatown Community Center. Close to a hundred people showed up for the event. |

Other Activities |
Members of the Friends of International Children's Park have presented the project to the Community Forum. Further meetings will be held during the schematic design process from January to March 2008 to solicit community feedbacks. |
