Once this process starts, it is not difficult to imagine that a reason would be found to reject anyone whose private life is found unacceptable by management.Slippery slope The author is making a series of causal claims. He is arguing that the negligent hiring lawsuits is causing companies to be more cautious in their hiring practices. Miller then states that this caution in hiring will eventually have the effect of people with questionable private lifestyles not being hired. For this not to be a slippery slope argument, the author would need to prove each causal argument in the chain.
