HCDE 493
HCDE Professional Portfolio Program

Overview

Program Introduction

The HCDE Professional Portfolio Program (HCDE-3P) will provide senior HCDE students with a structured yet flexible work environment in which they will develop and evaluate a professional portfolio. Student participants will articulate their individual skills and interests as they work through a predetermined series of activities. Through the iterative construction of portfolios, peer-led feedback and third party reviews of students' work, participants will capitalize on an opportunity to apply and expand their repertoire of HCDE abilities and knowledge.

Objectives

By the end of the program, participants will be able to

  • Share a high-quality professional portfolio appropriate for various audiences.
  • Demonstrate a rich understanding of the HCDE profession.
  • Clearly articulate their personal aspirations within the HCDE profession.
  • Effectively engage in peer review, including being able to describe the benefits of peer review and identify circumstances that make peer review effective.
  • Effectively communicate ideas using multiple avenues (e.g., web-based portfolio, "elevator pitches", written documents).
