Independent Studies Management System (ISMS)

This project will fulfill the needs of the CSS department for an online system for managing the proposals and final reports of independent studies performed by its students.

An independent study is a class individually taken by a student from an instructor. Several types of independent studies exist:

  • for undregraduate students: internships (TCSS497), directed readings (TCSS498), and directed research (TCSS499).
  • for graduate students: independent study (TCSS600), project (TCSS702), thesis (TCSS700).

Information must be stored for each independent study undertaken, such as student name, email address and other contact information, instructor name and contact information, committee composition eventually.

Users of the online system will be able to upload reports (privileged access), to update them (privileged access), to delete them (privileged access), to search for reports by student name, instructor name, title words, abstract words, or keywords, and to download them.

Project should be developed with JSPs, Java, and MySQL.
