Not enough researchers were involved to gather information simultaneous, this makes the forest site look like there is more water at the forest site. The sites, 1 km away from each other, could not be measured close enough in time to see which site gained speed first.

Both researchers, standing at 5' 4.5" in height are measuring the upper width and depths of the forest site, during a time of no resent rain (i) and during a time of heavy rains (ii).
