Methods:

Each site was sampled two times; once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Sites were sample along a 25m transect, disregarding river width, by swimming with snorkeling gear from downstream to upstream. In this way, fish were directly observed. Each sample was taken over a 30 minute period. Once the sampling time was completed, results were recorded immediately by writing fish descriptions of each of the fish types seen.
