Readings:

Understand quotient, (delta y/ delta x) , limit as the definition of a slope
Be able to switch between prime and Leibniz notations ( y' and (dy/dx) )
Understand the difference between a secant line and a tangent line
Know what f'(5), g'(7) or other similar expressions mean
If y = m*x + b is an equation for a straight line then m is the slope
Be able to construct a tangent line to a graph, i.e. find values for
m and b, at any point on a graph, y = f(x)
Check out the binomial theorem
Know:  if y = a (constant), then y' = 0
       if y = a*f(x),       then y' = a*f'(x)
       if y = m*x + b,      then y' = m
Know:  the power law rule  
       if y = x^a , then y' = a*(x^(a-1))
Know:  the sum rule
       the product rule
