Text

Neuhauser, Calculus for Biology and Medicine,

Prentice Hall (3nd ed.), 2011

Course Objectives:

1. Develop an understanding of integrals and the facility to use them
2. Develop an appreciation for using integral calculus to solve problems
and gain insight into biological and physical phenomena

Grading:

1. Quizes, Q
2. Midterm Exam, M
3. Final Exam, F

decimal grade: DG = 0.7 + 0.127*(G - 70)
where G = 0.40*G1 + 0.35*G2 +0.25*G3
and G1=max(Q,M,F), G2=mid(Q,M,F), G3=min(Q,M,F)
(DG=0.0 if G < 70% and DG=4.0 if G > 96%)

NOTE: Not a traditional grading system,
but one that, hopefully, fosters learning!
