In this talk I will share my experiences, observations,
views, challenges, successes and discuss identified
inconsistencies from my dual roles of academician
and underrepresented minority. Two topic areas will
be highlighted. The first is the so-called Great Imposter
Syndrome: Do I belong, do I fit, what do I bring extra,
and is it valued? The second concerns traditional
evaluation, from undergraduate admissions to faculty
hiring -- it just gets worse.
