Based on the December 2008 visit with Li County and Taoping tourist development company officials, the UW-SU collaborative BE Lab would examine alternatives to the plan currently under development. Information on the status of either the Hunan plan for the new village, or the Beijing plan for the old village, was difficult to obtain. Residents themselves were typically the last to know what decisions were being made.
