These are two scans, in 2001 and in 2003, from a patient who had been taking glucocorticoids, but he was on therapy for his bones. The radiologist who read the report noted that the spine showed an "interval decrease in bone mineral density compared to the prior DEXA scan . . . femoral neck which shows interval improvement. . ."

Why do you think the spine showed a 4.4% decrease, but the hip improved?
