Release notes for the Legacy Block Library for LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT Software v1.0 for Windows® XP Home Edition, Windows® XP Professional Mac OS X® v10.3.9 and Mac OS X v10.4 NOTE! The Legacy Block Library is not intended for LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education NXT Software v1.0. The blocks for legacy support are installed with the Software. The LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software and the Dynamic Block Update must be installed prior to using this library. Please make sure to be online when installing to make sure the latest requirements are taken in to consideration. LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software Minimum system requirements: General 256MB of RAM Minimum (512 MB recommended) Up to 300MB of available hard-disk space XGA display (1024x768) 1 available USB port CD-ROM drive Compatible Bluetooth adapter (optional)* Microsoft Windows Windows XP Professional or Home Edition with Service Pack 2 Intel® Pentium® processor or compatible, 800 MHz Minimum (1.5 GHz or better recommended) Apple Macintosh Apple Mac OS X v. 10.3.9 or 10.4 PowerPC® G3, G4, G5 processor, 600 MHz Minimum** (1.3 GHz or better recommended) *) Supported Bluetooth software are Widcomm® Bluetooth for Windows newer than v. 1.4.2.10 SP5 and the Bluetooth stacks included in Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 / Apple Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 10.4. **) The LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software is currently available for Intel-based Macintosh system using Rosetta emulation. A universal update which will run native on Mactel systems will be available as soon as possible. While LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software is using the Rosetta emulator Bluetooth functionality will not be available. 2) INSTALLING THE LEGACY BLOCK LIBRARY FOR LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT SOFTWARE Administrator privileges are required when installing the Legacy Block Library for LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software. 1. Verify that all installed versions of LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software are not currently running. 2. Launch LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software and create a new program by clicking 'Go' under 'Start New Program'. It is preferred that you haven't opened any other programs (during this session of the software) prior to importing blocks. 3. Under the 'Tools' menu, select the 'Block Import and Export Wizard...'. 4. Click 'Browse' to select the directory that contains the Legacy Block Library. 5. Once the wizard has found the blocks, select the 'Motor*' and 'Lamp*' blocks by clicking on them (hold down the control key to select multiple blocks). 6. Next, select the 'Action' palette or the palette that you would like the blocks to be on. 7. Click 'Import' 8. Once the wizard has found the blocks, select the 'Light* Sensor', 'Rotation* Sensor', 'Touch* Sensor' and 'Temperature* Sensor' blocks by clicking on them (hold down the control key to select multiple blocks). 9. Next, select the 'Sensor' palette or the palette that you would like the blocks to be on. 10. Click 'Import' 11. Close and relaunch the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software. 3) UNINSTALLING THE LEGACY BLOCK LIBRARY FOR LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT SOFTWARE The Block Import/Export Utility doesn't have the ability to uninstall a block. To completely uninstall a block from the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software installation, you will need to manually delete the files that were created during the import process. Before you begin, verify that all installed versions of LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software are not currently running. The Legacy Block Library contains 6 new blocks. These blocks are held in the following directories which will be referred to below as .
