Camshaft and Tappet Assembly

1. Place the Crankshaft Gear onto the Crankshaft making sure that it is properly aligned with the key-way.
2. Put the two tappets back into place in the Cylinder Block as shown.
3. While holding the tappets in place slide the camshaft into position in the Cylinder Block.
4. Rotate the Crankshaft and Camshaft until the marks that were previously made are properly aligned with one another as shown. This alignment is called timing and it is critical for correct engine operation.

   

   

5. Rotate the Flywheel until the Valves are lifted up enough so that the valve holders (popsicle sticks) may be removed.
