Course Fees

There is a course fee of $ 450. This fee will cover most of the commonly used items, though some more specialized kits and primers you may have to purchase yourself. Some sequencing / genotyping is included.

Included in the fee

• Common non-disposable glass / plasticware
• Common lab disposables (tubes, plates, pipette tips, foil, parafilm, gloves etc.)
• Use of Rainin pipettors
• Serological disposable pipettors
• Petri dishes and falcon tubes
• Common chemicals (proteinase K, phenol, chloroform, acrylamide, agarose, agar, SybrGreen, buffer constituents, ampicillin, culture media)
• PCR chemicals (dNTPs, buffer, MgCl2)
• Cloning stuff (media, competent cells etc.)
• Common size standards
• Labeling tape, marker pens
• Use of the FMBio

Included with limitations (i.e. some amount/number provided, discuss with instructor)

• Taq
• MegaBace rusn (can be used on different occasions)
• Some common primers (e.g. universal mitochondrial primers)
• Some Quiagen extraction kits
• Some Quiagen PCR purification kits

Not included (see costs)

• Specialized kits (e.g. AFLP kits, specialized extraction kits)
• Labelled specific primers
• MegaBace runs and kits beyond those included
