Award / IT Short Course Announcement

We are very pleased to announce that our project, submitted to the 2001 AICP/ACSP Collaborative Project competition, was chosen as one of only three awards nationally ["Can Information Technology Enhance Planning Education? The : A Pilot Project between the University of Washington and Washington State Professional Planners" (a long title!)].

The AICP/ACSP Collaborative Project's stated purpose is "... to showcase and recognize collaborative efforts between academics and practitioners. It is the desire of both AICP and ACSP that this program will enhance cooperation between the planning academic community and the professional society for the filed of planning and to develop educational partnerships that contribute to the advancement of the profession of planning."

This award should be shared with all of you who participated in the project via the internet. Many of us have never met, but we have established very good rapport over the past quarters.

We also plan to offer an Information Technology Short Course for Planners, on February 12 (Monday) from 3pm to 5pm at BCON Lab, Gould Hall, University of Washington (there will be no fee, but space is limited). If you would like to gain familiarity with the World Wide Web, learn more about how it works, planning related databases and how to use them, etc., you are most welcome to participate. Because the BCON lab has only 25 computers, we would like to know how many of you might join us on February 12. If you are interested, please send and e-mail to gmforum@u.washington.edu ASAP. Thanks!

New Format

Entering its second year, the "GMForum" has served well connecting profressionals with students on Growth Mangement and other related issues. However, the plethora of information that is connected to this web site has become a bit overwhelming. So, it was decided that a new format with a clearer navigation is needed to better serve you, the user. What you see today is the result. As always, web pages are dynamic, needing constant changes and revisions. From time to time, there will be some dramatic and some minor revisions. As always, they will be indicated on this page. Feel free to chime in your thoughts, suggestions, and comments about the new format to me, and I will do my best to accommodate your needs. Thanks! - HHW
