There is no credit given to the individual(s) responsible for the creation and maintenance of the site. The Lower East Side Tenement Museum is affiliated with The National Trust for Historic Preservation, The National Park Service, and The International Coalition of Historic Sites of Conscience. The Tenement Museum receives funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The museum continues to engage the public in current issues. In March of 2003, congresswoman Carolyn Maloney of New York used the museum's historic roll to spearhead a federally funded program to support the Irish Family in America project.
