Welcome to Japan 101 (First-year Japanese)

Japan 101 will be taught in-person.

Exams will be given in-person (with some online portions).

All the quizzes, and homework assignments will be submitted online.

Please adhere to the University of Washington's health and safty guidance.

This is the first quarter of three quarter sequence in elementary modern Japanese language course. Students enrolled in the course may not have any prior course work in Japanese, learning substantial Japanese through residence in Japan or by heritage, or have placeed into Japan 102 or higher. If you have taken two or more years of Japanese in high school and use the credits for college entranance requirment (aka. language of admission), no credits from this course will be awarded. For other information as to the forein language requirements at the University, please refer to the official documents. If you have any question as to your qualification for the course, please contact the main instructor (not your TA)

Please note that Final Exam for Japan 101 will be given online between 12/9-12/12.
