This site was created as a final project for a Summer 2003 English course taught by Professor Kimberlee Gillis-Bridges at the University of Washington.
The course focused on literature of the Harlem Renaissance era. "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston was one of the interesting novels which were read during the course. The novel was published in 1937 and for nearly thrity years was actually out of print. Fortunately in the 1970's the novel resurfaced and drew in a new audience. It became a phenomenon and a Zora Neale Hurston renaissance began.
Through this web site I hope that you will gain enough knowledge and desire to read this novel or any others by Zora Neale Hurston.
