Acorn Barnacle or Common Barnacle
Balanus glandula

This barnacle is the most common.
It grows to be about 1/2 inch
tall and wide in diameter.
This barnacle can grow in elongated
columns when there is overcrowding.
I found this barnacle at the
Point Defiance Floating Dock,
Fox Island, Cattle Point-San Juan Island,
Argyle Lagoon-San Juan Island,
Olympic National Park- north of Hole
in the Wall, and Tongue Point-Salt Creek
Recreation Center.
