{"id":1902,"date":"2018-06-07T06:49:47","date_gmt":"2018-06-07T06:49:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/?p=1902"},"modified":"2018-06-07T06:49:47","modified_gmt":"2018-06-07T06:49:47","slug":"group-action-project-reflection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/2018\/06\/07\/group-action-project-reflection\/","title":{"rendered":"Group Action Project Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My group did our action project on the topic of trade.\u00a0 We were originally going to conduct a faculty panel, but about a week after we\u2019d decided on this it was announced that a faculty panel on the topic of trade was going to be hosted by the University.\u00a0 We then decided that we would just have grad students and representatives from different organizations speak.\u00a0 Then we encountered difficulties in trying to acquire a room.\u00a0 We were able to come to the conclusion that a podcast would be aa better course of action.<\/p>\n<p>We had two speakers on our podcast.\u00a0 One of which was Joseph Maurey, the University of Washington Coffee Education Head, and the other Stan Sorscher, the president of the board of the Washinton Fair Trade Coalition.\u00a0 Both of them brought unique perspectives to our discussion of trade. \u00a0Every topic related in some way to material from class.<\/p>\n<p>Right away Joseph\u2019s discussion of the coffee trade could be related to what we learned about the exploitation of farmers, as well as our learning about oil in transportation.\u00a0 Stan was able to speak to the regulation of world trade and globalization.\u00a0 This could be related to our learning of the WTO, as well as the differences in national perspectives, like risk culture.<\/p>\n<p>It was very interesting to hear what Stan and Joseph had to say because they were able to go into depth and add a lot to topics we\u2019d touched on in class.\u00a0 I highly encourage you all to go listen to our podcast.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, our group project went rather smoothly.\u00a0 My group kept in good communication, and we were all willing to make time to meet and pick up tasks.\u00a0 The group action project is a good stretch project, in the way that you have to think creatively and work as a group.\u00a0 I found myself feeling responsible for the partial success of our project so I didn\u2019t procrastinate as I usually would have, but rather completed my tasks promptly.\u00a0 Overall, I would say my experience with the group project was as good as it could have been.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My group did our action project on the topic of trade.\u00a0 We were originally going to conduct a faculty panel, but about a week after we\u2019d decided on this it was announced that a faculty panel on the topic of trade was going to be hosted by the University.\u00a0 We then decided that we would just have grad students and&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/2018\/06\/07\/group-action-project-reflection\/\">Read more &raquo;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":63,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[151],"class_list":["post-1902","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-action-project"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1902","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/63"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1902"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1902\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1904,"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1902\/revisions\/1904"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1902"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1902"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/courses.washington.edu\/ps385s18\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1902"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
