My main motivation for this course concerning my artistic work is creativity. I want to create things that are not only interesting to me but to others as well. I ultimately want my work to inspire people in more ways than one. If I help others to want to explore their creativity further, I feel I have done my best at presenting my feelings on art and expressing themselves. Creativity and imagination to me is something spectacular and necessary for the mind to grow. To me art comes in more forms than one allowing everyone the opportunity to express themselves in many different ways. My poems as well as my photographs show my creative talent and my artistic qualities.
The way I decide which pieces I am going to share is somewhat difficult. I am constantly critiquing myself and my works however, there are some rare times where I am truly confident in what I have created allowing me to genuinely share it with others. The main theme I focus on when constructing my pieces is uniqueness and creativity. Although I may generate ideas from appreciating other peoples work, I always strive to envision an original idea of mine.
My beginning strategy when taking my photographs is to take pictures that are different or odd, and interesting to look at. I obviously want to capture my viewers’ attention so one of my primary intentions is to take some pictures that are done at such an unusual angle that the viewers have multiple ideas of what the actual image is. When I take pictures outdoors, the type of weather helps put me in a certain mood that flows throughout my project. With these particular pictures, it was a rainy day which made ordinary objects look particularly bizarre, like the photograph of the spider web covered in rain drops. I also think it is clever if the image is so versatile that the viewer can look at it from many angles and get a different perspective and or image out of it. My reason for choosing the pictures I did is because I want to capture ordinary objects and make them look extraordinary. I want these everyday objects to have character. My poem was created by writing down exactly how I was feeling at the time. It is spontaneous and therefore expressive in a way that is different than when I consciously am aware of what I intend to write. I constantly challenge myself by creating opportunities that are either unfamiliar and or are difficult for me. I push myself to express myself and the outcome is always positive.
