Blaine Chapman – 3:13, comedy short
Meditation on the fiery violence of the revolver, and existential truth beyond the holster.
I tried to utilize a juxtaposition of conflicting ideals to bring about a sense of parody while still pointing to the existence of something that many dislike. I planned for it to black and white from the beginning so that meant that I would just have to keep the subjects lit enough that I could identify them. With the paper in the range it turned out to be a little too much light and I had some harsh light which made the holes difficult to discern. I tried to match the pacing with the song and some dark moments became a little longer than makes sense, despite being in time with the beat. I originally planned to have a voice over narration in French, however the takes that I had never had the right sort of depth in the voice.
very original! nice work with the black and white! probably one of my favorite videos.
I really liked this art film style video. Guns are an abstract idea to some and putting a revolver as a the silent protagonist was a brilliant way of humanizing the idea of a firearm. The titles and music were great, though some of the fade to blacks went on a little too long at points. Great video!
