Andrew Farrell – 4:46, dramatic short, thriller/suspense
A young woman must defend herself and her home from an uninvited guest.
I think this is, as my final assignment for the quarter, is my best work so far. I did have issues, namely an absence of my primary actor (playing the intruder), so I had to attempt to choreograph the fight scene as well as get a good camera angle for it. It doesn’t look as smooth as I hoped, but still works. Some other issues I ran into where a lack of available time to film, so I was limited to two short periods in a day. I also forgot to capture one or two shots that would have helped the story flow.
I think the best thing about this video is the music, which I found on Soundcloud. It captures the idea and the feel of the scene that I wanted to communicate. I was also fairly happy with the pacing and most of the post-production work. All in all, it went quite well and I am fairly happy with the result.
Very suspenseful. The footage was great, there were a lot of great shots. Nice!
the audio adds a lot to the piece, it definately makes it creepy. great visual storytelling and even though the lighting is minimal the visuals are still very easy to see. A good story and well laid out except for that missing clip!.. doh! The sound track is great
Very nice, I really like the lighting; it had a real dark feel and good suspense.
Your uses of angles really sets the mood well, like the opening scene with the window lighting up, and the gloved hand opening the door.
I saw the cat on the stairs and didn’t do anything which is why I’m a dog person, this could be a psa on getting a dog instead of a cat. That being said this had a great cinematic feel to it, great shots and lighting as well as acting.
Great shots. I loved the out of focus shot at the end, although it was intentional from you. Added a good conclusion to the video. Great sound, wish the creak was more apparent. Lighting was good. Great work
