Leo Kim – 5:03, dramatic short
A young man finds himself lost in the woods with no recollection of how he got there.
Overall, this was my favorite assignment for this class. I enjoyed the process of creating this video, even though acting, filming, producing, etc. everything by yourself is hard work! I think my video turned out well and followed the prompt.
I didn’t have many problems during the production phase. Like many of the assignments, it is often difficult to work with natural light. Especially when it is a very nice day and the sun is gleaming. It can cause some problems with over exposure and white balance. I think it handled the lighting as well as I could. I got a lot of footage that I liked a lot, and I had a lot of footage that was garbage, but more is better to cut and carve away. I wanted to focus the filming on the surroundings and add in nature shots. Extreme close-ups, long shots, ground shots, high angle shots, etc. were all the different shots I utilized to make it more dynamic. I tried to add as much variety as possible.
During post production, I didn’t have any problems. The sound quality and level was good, and I had enough footage to work with.
i thought this was really well done. it reminded my of the blair witch project lol. but seriously though it was filmed very well and nicely edited great job.
Very original idea and it looks like a lot of work, playing camera man and actor. One can tell that there are some differences in the quality of the video footage, other than that I really enjoyed the video as it played out.. the variety of shots and angles of the shots can be appreciated, also it seems that the use of natural light worked out well in the day shots as well as the “night” shots.
I liked this video a lot. The things I think could use improvement were the pixilation. On certain parts of the video especially in the grass it was extremely pixelated and was hard to see what was going on. But other than that the story line was great, it reminded me of the 127 hours movie. Great Job!
Very survivor man feel to it, wouldn’t be surprised if it was your inspiration i felt like I was watching it. You shots and storyline was very much how Les would have done it, great work.
