Course Review

Students in ESRM 304 are responsible for a lot of information! In order to help you review and synthesize what you have learned over the course of the quarter, questions from each module will be posted here as the module is completed. Use the study guide and practice questions below to prepare for the final.

Module: Wildlife

- You're under a
dense forest canopy. It's nighttime. There
are eight bat species flying through the
forest but you can't see or hear them. How can you tell which bat species are using the forest?

- You're standing next to a forest headwater stream that is home to six amphibian species. How would you estimate their density?

Module: Social Environment

- You have collected data about the recreational uses of a natural area. What statistical procedures
might you use to test for differences between men and women?

- In social science what is non-response bias? Why is this important to consider in data collection?

- What constitutes a good population for survey data?

Module:

                            Stream Ecology

- Briefly describe two ways to measure stream velocity.

- How does stream type affect forest harvest rules in Washington?

- Look at the questions in the module homework.
