-Discuss Fleitmann et al. (2003) paper on Holocene monsoon (see link below).
-Begin Holocene Carbon Cycle discussion with a discussion of the ASSIGNED READING:
Ruddiman, W. F. (2003), The Anthropogenic Greenhouse Era Began Thousands of Years Ago, Climatic Change, V61, 261-293.
*** NOTE: We will put figures up and randomly select people to explain them, so please be prepared. ***
-Continue with a discussion of the Ocean Carbonate Chemistry during the Holocene (Katie, Roo, Julian)
Tuesday 2/27, 1:30-3:30 pm, JHN 377
Continue Holocene C cycle discussion: The 1st two should go quickly AND the 3rd is obviously related (as is the ocean CO3 chemistry). So we hope to have an integrated discussion of the topics during this last meeting of the seminar.
-The record of CO2 (Andy, Gerard)
-The record of CH4 (Brian)
-The terrestrial biosphere (Clark, Paul, Angie)
(Please let me know if I got the trawling assignemnts wrong; I scribbled them down in a very haphazard way!)
Next mtg - Tues 2/20/06
1:30-3:30 in JHN 377
-Finish sea ice discussion
-Begin MONSOON discussion: ASSIGNED PAPER SHOULD BE READ
Fleitmann, D., et al. (2003), Holocene Forcing of the Indian Monsoon Recorded in a Stalagmite from Southern Oman, Science, 300, 1737-1739.
Next mtg. & Next topic
-->We will meet Tues. Feb. 13th from 1:30-3:30 in JHN 377.
-->The next topic for discussion, after the cryosphere, will be Monsoons (instead of Wind & Storms).
