The general timeline for project is as follows:

Week of Oct 13-17: teams are formed

Oct 20 : three project ideas proposed by each team.

Oct 22: Project idea finalized for each team. Team begins the task of researching the project background and gathering the relevant information needed to formulate a design problem.

Nov. 7: Submit a progress report ( not to exceed 3 pages + figures etc.) that should include: project background and motivation; a need statement, results of research ( eg, what codes/standards are applicable? What solutions exist to similar problems? etc. ) , and a complete design problem formulation.

Preliminary ideas about solutions may be included but are not required.

Nov. 10-25; Make an appointment with me to discuss your project. We will use some of the class time for this

purpose as well. Before Thanksgiving break you should prepare a powerpoint presentation ( not to exceed 15 min.)

Dec. 1-6: Project presentations in class. In order to accomodate EDGE students, who are working during the normal weekday hours, I am planning a class session on Saturday Dec. 6 to complete the presentations. This will in lieu of the final exam time scheduled on Wed. Dec. 10. More on this later.

Dec 6 : final project report due by midnight.
