Review Sessions: What they Are and Are Not Are: These sessions are conducted by the course TAs. We try to hold them close to the exam dates and spread them out over 2 or 3 days, although sometimes one or more reviews might have to be held at an earlier date. The TAs will ask questions about a subset of material from a given chapter, ask you to write down your answers, will ask the assembled group to describe their anwers, and will then discuss and review the material to correct misconceptions as need be. Are Not: TAs will not stand up and
lecture for 50 minutes, blah, blah, blah, simply condensing the chapter
and saying "here's what you have to know." These sessions are not a
substitute for studying the material carefully. Each Chapter has Several Review Sessions. Are Those Reviews the Same? YES, we offer multiple reviews for each chapter to increase the odds that any individual student will be able to find a review time that does not conflict with her/his other activities. If Chapter 1 has three review sessions, for example, then those sessions will be pretty much the same. The TAs will not ask different sets of questions for each review of a given chapter, though of course, they may get further along in some review sessions than others depending upon the number of students that attend and how well prepared those students are. Who Should Attend: These sessions are designed for students who a) have finished reading the particular chapter and b) ideally, have also spent time reviewing and trying to learn the material in that chapter. This way, they can check how well they understand the material. If you haven't read the chapter yet, don't bother to attend. You're better off spending your time catching up and getting the reading done. Times/Rooms Our goal is to hold 3 review sessions for each of the chapters covered for each exam. For each chapter, all the reviews for that chapter will be "the same". In other words, we will try to repeat each review 3 times to increase the odds that you will be able to attend one of them, given your class/work schedule. Our ability to hold these reviews depends on the availability of classrooms (assigned by the Registrar) and our TAs own work/course schedule. Thus, once in a while we might not be able to achieve 3 reviews per chapter. CAMPUS MAP
