Dr. Gardner earned her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Hawaii, and her Ph.D. degree in Epidemiology from the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine. From 1980 to 1992 she worked for The Upjohn Company, ultimately becoming Director of Drug Epidemiology. Since joining the faculty of the University of Washington School of Pharmacy in 1992, Gardner’s research has focused on innovative pharmacy practice. She has been responsible for evaluation of demonstration projects designed to explore the outcomes of extending prescribing authority to pharmacists to provide emergency contraception and adult and adolescent immunizations, and initiation and management of hormonal contraceptives by community pharmacists. Gardner was a charter member of the FDA’s Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee and continues to advise FDA on risk management strategies for prescribed and OTC products.

Dr. Nowak is a graduate of UWSOP and Bartell’s PGY1 Community Practice Residency program. In her current position as Clinical Coordinator for Bartell’s, Dr. Nowak has primarily been involved in the implementation of MTM and immunization services across their stores in the Seattle metro area. This is her second year helping with this course.

Dr. Hammer rec'd her BS in Pharmacy from Oregon State University. She worked in independent and hospital pharmacies for two years before entering graduate school. She continued to work in hospital pharmacy while rec'd her MS and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmacy Practice Education from Purdue University.  Dr. Hammer works  with students on teaching practicums and special projects in pharmacy education .

John Hebert, RPh

Mr. Hebert owned and managed his father’s store,  Manhattan Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy in the Burien area, for many years. He currently works for Safeway and has been assisting with this course for a number of years.

Cyndy Clegg, RPh, MHA

Ms. Clegg received her BS in Pharmacy and her MHA from the University of Washington. She is the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Harborview Medical Center, the program coordinator for the UW Medicine combined Masters/Pharmacy Practice Management residency program and a clinical associate professor for the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. She has been assisting with this course since 1995.

Dr. Austen received her PharmD from the University of Washington. She has experience working in outpatient, retail, and independent pharmacy practice settings and is also actively involved as an immunization provider.

Dr. Guenther received his Pharm.D. from the University of Washington. He has worked in retail, independent, and compounding pharmacies along with assisting with the UW Advanced Compounding course.

Randy Grekowicz, RPh, MBA

Mr. Grekowicz (pronounced Greh-KOH-vich) was employed at the Seattle VA Medical Center for over 30 years and has served as IV Coordinator and Inpatient Supervisor for Pharmacy Service. He has recently retired as the Program Manager for Clinical Information Management. Randy has been assisting with this course for many years.

 Dr. Lee is a pharmacist at Northwest Hospital as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor for the School of Pharmacy. You will remember her from Pharmaceutics lab fall quarter.
