Phil Hurvitz is a PhD candidate in Urban Design and Planning at the UW College of Built Environments. He has over 15 years of GIS experience in teaching, research, and consulting. Phil's work experience includes habitat conservation planning for the City of Seattle Cedar River Watershed, teaching at the University of Washington College of Forest Resources (where he was GIS specialist for several years) and Green River community College. Phil is a principal in Northwest Geospatial, a local GIS consulting firm.
Currently doing research at the UW's Urban Form Lab, Phil's dissertation reseach is focused on objective measures of built environment and health-related behaviors.
