The lab scene
Primary Objectives around which the following revolve:
--You learn
--You help (or at least don't hinder) your fellow students
Attendance
- You don't have to come to Tuesday/Thursday labs. I'll pay attention to who's there, but I won't base your grade on that.
- It's important to come to Friday labs. That's when we'll work on the class project.
- That said, my expectation is that you will come to every lab section and use that time to work on the class. Being there gives you a chance to ask questions (of me and your fellow students), provide help to your fellow students, and keep in touch with what's happening in the class.
- If you have compelling reasons for doing the work elsewhere (e.g. you learn much better if you work quietly alone) then do so, but take responsibility for finding out if you've missed anything.
In the lab
- It's a great facility. I think the rules for not eating or drinking are reasonable and rational so let's follow them. If you're hungry or thirsty, by all means, step outside for something to eat/drink.
- Working together is fine - just be respectful of your classmates and pay attention to whether you are making too much noise.
