The Ceren Project
A project involving 3D architectural reconstruction of an archeological site, this web site illustrates various ways in which 3D information can be presented and organized. Mark Gross was intimately involved in this project while at the University of Colorado.
The Hagia Sophia
A project involving 3D architectural capture or recording of an existing site, this web sitegrew out of the Ceren project and an interest of streamlining the process of creating such sites. Mark Gross was also involved in this project, and the subsequent creation of an authoring tool for such sites, called Placemaker
The Taj Mahal
A commercial site offering a (QuickTime / QTVR) "virtual tour" of the Taj Mahal. Their info page also lists a number of software tools.

This is one of the classic documents on HTML. It has been around, and been revised, for a number of years. If you look at nothing else, take a look at this document.
Brian's ACADIA'95 Course
While only an outline of the workshop given at ACADIA'95, and not an ideal place to read in any depth, this document includes a number of examples of basic tag usage. Some of the "outbound" links are "404" (not working), but the local contents are OK.

The Cosmoplayer VRML Client (Mac/PC/etc.)
One of the "old folks" of the VRML world, Cosmoplayer development on the Mac is stagnant and the installer sometimes need (significant) help getting it right, but it is available.
The Cortona VRML Client (Mac)
A new player in the VRML browser (or viewer) world. More actively maintained than Cosmoplayer.
