****Use proper naming convention of your files - the following steps are for guidance only.
You will need a postscript printer driver installed on your computer in order to generate a postscript file for Ghostscript. If you have a postscript printer installed on your system, then simply use that printer. If you do not have a postscript printer, you can install the generic one available at Adobe. Follow instructions on the web site or in the printer driver package.
As of this writing, the driver is available at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html.
Once you have the printer driver installed, print your document as you normally would, but make sure to select the postscript driver.
Check the box for Print to file.
Click OK.
Navigate to the location where you want to save the print file, and give the file a descriptive name:
Click OK to create the printer file. Even if this file has the file extension prn, it will be a postscript file and should be able to be opened in GSView.
GSView will need to be configured before working properly. Open GSView by double-clicking the gsview32.exe file in the \gv\gsview\gsview directory on the CD.
GSView will open. Click OK on the GSView Registration dialog.
From the Options menu, select Advanced Configure.
Wherever you see the string C:\gs in the Ghostscript DLL and Ghostscript Include Path controls, replace with X:\gv\gscript, where X is the drive letter of your CD drive, like so:
Click OK. Now GSView will know where to look for some essential files.
From GSView's File menu, select Open. Navigate to the directory containing your prn file. Double click the file to open it in GSView.
The file should look nearly identical to how it looked when it was created in the original application.
From the File menu, select Convert.
Select the pdfwrite Device, and 600 as the Resolution. Click OK.
The Output Filename dialog will open. Navigate to the directory in which you want to save the file. In the File name control, enter the name of the file as you want it to be named. Make sure to enter the entire file name, including the .pdf extension, otherwise GSView will leave the extension off.
Click Save.
Open the PDF file you just created to verify it was converted correctly.
