Hello, ill be talking about block 64. Block 64 is a residential area made up of small homes and apartments. Most of the apartments are rented by college students who go to the university and the smaller homes is where mainly older couples live in and have been for a while. In the block you’ll notice that there’s a lot of plants and trees that have been there for a long time since there crack on the sidewalks from roots and the size of them. The block has always been a residential area dating back to the first maps of the area. There were fewer homes back then, but over time they added more homes in the free spaces and recently they built a new apartment complex. The oldest building on the block is the monarch apartment; it was built in the very early 20th century and its still being lived in. There hasn’t been any event on the block until recently, when the city proposed a land use action on one of the older home that looks run down. It looks like the city wants to build new homes on the block since most of them are old and the area is surrounded by business. The area is starting to renovate since more and more new building are being built and the old ones are being bought out by companies so they can put new buildings.
