DESCRIPTION

This is the largest city park in Seattle with over 530 acres of natural space. The site is on Magnolia Bluff overlooking Puget Sound and includes two miles of protected tidal beaches, open meadows and forest groves. It contains an active bald eagle nesting site.
DIRECTIONS FROM UW

From the University of Washington, go west on Pacific Ave. & then west along the Ship canal. Go north on Stomeway to 45th Ave. Go west on 45th until you reach 15th NW in Ballard. Go south across the Ballard bridge, then take 5th to the Dravus Street exit. At the first stoplight take a left onto Dravus. Then take a right onto 20th Avenue W. 20th will become Gilman Avenue W. at 4 way stop. Gilman Avenue W. then becomes W. Government Way. Follow W Government Way until you come to 36th Ave W; turn left onto 36th Ave W. You are now going S a few blocks until you reach W Emerson St. Go right on W Emerson St to reach the South Parking Lot at the park. We'll start our hike here, taking the loop trail out to the bluffs.
