TAPESTRY: The Art of Representation and Abstraction
Shadows
In formZ each light source may be specified to cast (hard) shadows (where the geometry permits) in one of two ways: "transparent" or not. What's the difference? See below.
This shadow is opaque (not transparent). The edges and extent of the shadow are determined by the geometry of the object. It renders as a single large shadow in spite of the fact that the texture on the surface shows areas of transparency.
This shadow is transparent. The edges and extent of the shadow are determined by the opaque pixels of the texture on the geometry.
