Conclusion

As we can tell from the four site reports. The UD (University District, Seattle, WA)today does not come from any single event listed in the site reports, but all of the events and natural resources make the UD like the UD today. The relatively flat landscape does make this place easier for urbanization, and make building transportation system easier. However, if not for the arrival of the University of Washington, the UD would just be a small village instead of a big industry chain of residence. If not for the globalization (polarization economy) and the high-tech companies around Seattle, all the apartments around the UD would be low-rise buildings, instead of the middle-rise and great condition apartments. As my block today has very modern apartments which target on those who have higher income, the status of the UD today comes from historical and cumulative reasons. There are the three critical points that shapes the UD historically and currently that are reflected by the four reports  : First, while urbanization is a unavoidably necessary process of development, a good landscape enables a place to urbanize easier. Second, a “big event” can dramatically change areas around, which includes the change of the form of economy. Third, for the developed areas, the globalization and economic polarization is the trend of “post urbanization”, and will have a huge impact on or cause a big change of the urban .
