Introduction

Introduction

The block investigated in this exhibit is Block 02 which is between 8^th Avenue NE and 9^th Avenue NE and NE 45^th Street and NE 43^rd Street. To the west of this block, there is an entryway to the I-5 highway which connects University District to the rest of the city including downtown, Seattle-Tacoma Airport, and Northgate mall. To the east, about six blocks away, is the campus for the University of Washington. This block is located in an ideal location for any person attending UW, giving them easy access to the school, surrounding commercial areas, and an easy route to the rest of the city. As a result this block has been filled in by mostly residential buildings, including single homes and apartment complexes. The block also contains a couple of stores to be used by the inhabitants of the area.
