Introduction
For a long time, Seattle has been a very large hub of development in the United States. Reflecting many of the commonly seen aspects of other large urban spaces, Seattle has seen growth, racism, turmoil, and many other problems associated with the daunting task of resizing everything from city streets to government. Early residential housing in Seattle saw lots of single family homes, but also in an attempt to accommodate the masses moving in to the city, those homes were and still are being bought and built into larger multiple family style housing such as apartments. On my block specifically, between 7TH AVE. NE and 8TH AVE. NE, and NE 43RD ST. and NE 42ND ST, this is clearly shown. Although always a place for growth and development, the University District region of Seattle is taking longer. Currently primarily covered in small businesses and smaller housing units, it is home to the University of Washington, but due to new zoning laws we can expect to see expansion in the University District like never before.
