Cities and their individual blocks are constantly changing elements. They adapt to the specific needs of the area to maximize utility in a given, confined space. More often than not, changes in technology and population have drastic effects upon development. However despite the tendency to change over time, the original urban planning of cities can provide an overall theme to the lifespan of city blocks. Busier and larger roads will always be at the forefront of development as they are the main focal point of not only the city but also the population. This site is an overall reflection of these ideals. Starting as single family homes on a street that would eventually be connected to the University Bridge, it progressed into a vital commercial center for the community, focusing on health. A simple change such as connecting the bridge to Brooklyn Avenue rather than Roosevelt would have changed the outcome of this block. Cities are always adapting to their populations, but it was the original city planners who were able to choose the overall theme of the area.
