Site Report 3

Looking around the block, you can’t help but to see the renovations that are and has been going on. Way back, when renovations first started, my site looked a whole lot greener than it is now.

In 1900, this area was relatively undeveloped. Because of the slight incline, the area seemed to be part of a hill with quite a lot of trees. Plans were made, however, to make way for new houses so that more residents can come live in the bustling Seattle area.

During the years of 1910 and forward, the changes occurred rapidly. With a huge influx of people coming to Seattle, my area was developed. More and more plans were made for houses to be made.

Fast forward to 1976, my site added a huge addition to its block. As you can see to your right, a large portion of the land was dedicated to the U-district Community P-Patch. With the large land designated for the garden, it brought lots of people together.

Currently, the U-District P-Patch seems relatively abandoned. After doing some research, it seems there has been no activity in this location for a few years. Although, it seems there were some attempts to keep it taken care of, the area still looked relatively barren.

A new development recently in the block has been the new Lavita Apartments. The arrival of the Lavita Apartments represents a common theme that has been happening throughout the blocks on the edge of the U-District. While there were those who were living in U-District as their home, it seems that they are slowly getting pushed out to make space for new students and individuals. This may be due to the growth of population in UW and the increasingly popular tech culture in the Seattle area.
