Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed learning about this block in the University District

From its early forested beginnings to the diverse use of the two major buildings today, there has been great growth, varying dynamics and historical preservation both on this specific block and the surrounding neighborhood. There have been some themes of urban development demonstrated in this single block. The embellished apartment building built in the 1920s shows that someone had money. The Inn built 1909 is still here today and now a national historic building, showing that people value the history. The trees planted and numerous bike rocks demonstrate the neighborhoods commitment to living more sustainably. The wide sidewalks and convenient coffee cater to the many students that walk by every day. There will be changes to the surrounding area with the upcoming completion of the light rail center and it will be interesting to watch the growth and outcomes of this project. While the physical buildings on this block should hold awhile longer, urban development continues as well as public sentiment and policy.
