The Invasion of America

Map of Native American Land in 1855 compared to U.S Americans. (Washington). National Geographic

The University District(U-District) has developed rapidly after theĀ settlement of U.S Americans to Seattle in the 1850s. Cities are often portrayed wrongfully in Hollywood shows, both in good and bad ways. It is only through research that I was able to understand who, what, why, and how the U-District became what it is today. Looking back on historic events in the Seattle area, we can get a feel of how Seattle became one of the most economically successful cities in the United States. Through major events, transportation advancements, and technological advancements, Seattle attracted many Americans and immigrants. The future of U-District containing a light rail transportation option and the upzoning of the area can be explained through the history of Seattle.

The block between University Way and 15th ave NE, and 47th St. and 50th St NE, in particular, will be portrayed as a street that accommodated to people through housing and religion.
