DIRECTIONS: From Seattle, follow I-5 south, take exit 114 (Nisqually), turn west and go under freeway and then follow signs to the refuge. The refuge is 8 miles east of Olympia.

DESCRIPTION: There is a 1-mile boardwalk loop. Refuge is open during daylight hours, admission fee is $3. No pets allowed. The 1797 acre refuge is one of the last undisturbed estuaries in Puget Sound. The refuge contains a mixture of woodlands, open grassland, marsh and tide flats. Species include marine mammals, shorebirds, plus woodland and grassland species of birds, mammals, amphibians & reptiles.
