Conclusion

The history of this block is not one of major landscape changes or of lifechanging renovations. Instead, it is mainly the story of one major building: the Bookstore. From this single shop, aspects of the history of the area and the school itself are revealed. In particular, it is important to recognize two major things. First, that it is sometimes need, and not want, that dictates history. While the students and staff originally wanted the Bookstore to remain on campus, it was the need to move that caused the store to arrive at its current location (“Our History”). Secondly, it is important to realize what good change can bring, even if that change is undesired. The move of the Bookstore from campus to the Ave. greatly increased its profit and accessibility, despite the original belief it would be a temporary move while a “better” location was determined (“Our History”). The world is always changing, due to the constantly shifting nature of people and society. However, while many fear change, it is also important to recognize the good it can bring, for cities and for businesses.
