Introduction

Welcome to block 9 of the U District! The University District of Seattle Washington is a rapidly growing piece of the city. With the school drawing more and more people to the area, the surrounding blocks have had to make adjustments to keep up with the new demands for business and living spaces within the area. Block 9 specifically is a purely residential block, neighboring the freeway, not too far from the hub of the U District, the school itself. This exhibit explores the history of a small area, and offers explanation for the changes that are happening now as we move back from the age of suburbia into a more city based area. The rapid changes have lead to a high demand for housing, better transportation, and a need for more businesses to support the people now living here.
