Course Resources

Course description

People frequently express attitudes in text and speech, and recent years have seen a dramatic increase in the use of natural language processing techniques to identify these attitudes. Tasks include automatically analyzing reviews for films or products, detecting bias in news articles, or determining the tenor of a meeting or customer service call. This course will explore the main issues and approaches in expression and automatic recognition of sentiment in both written and spoken language. Student projects include implementation of methods for automatic recognition as well as analysis of linguistic phenomena associated sentiment, subjectivity, and stance.
