Conclusion

As we have seen throughout the University District’s history, many changes have occurred, yet history has prevailed to keep a foot in the door during new renovations. As the new developments give way to the future of the U District, there a few major take aways. First off, although the University District has always been “A City Within a City” since its initial development and will most likely remain to be this, it will always capture a unique energy and charm that differs from the whole of Seattle’s. Its base has always been the University of Washington and is in many ways sculpted around the youth culture that has consistently invaded it throughout its history. As Seattle and its suburbs remain more consistent in their demographics, that is all about to change for the U District with a swift shift towards the future. This is the second critical takeaway from the city’s history, which is it’s shift towards a more astounding city by integrating Seattle with the University District through Link public transportation. This area is heading towards rapid growth and reconstruction of itself. It is aiming to create a more youth based pedestrian centered extension of Seattle; a new focal point to that will add to Seattle’s unique attractions. This century is all about ease of public transportation from city to city and the dominance of intelligent young people. Thus, this city is transforming itself to accommodate for intelligent young people who are using their ideas through jobs at corporations such as Amazon and Microsoft, as well as the ever growing influence from University of Washington.

If my block ever does change drastically in the future, it will likely be either to the expansion of urban development such as skyscrapers, or a higher demographic of young people rather than growing families.
